Tab 3: Unlock

The unlock tab is used solely for forming unlock functionality. This is a quick, 15-second process of modifying the firmware of the DME to allow OBD flashing abilities via any tuning platform choice of the user. During the unlocking phase, a sector of DME memory containing the “OBD Lock” is read out. The received data is then checked for consistency. After that check, we check if unlock is possible on that specific firmware. And finally, we check if the DME is truly locked (maybe someone else already unlocked it before). As long as all the checks have passed, M-Link removes the lock and saves the new data back to DME.

  • If the user has not performed a full DME backup, a message will be displayed accordingly and instead of “Start Unlock” button, user will be guided to backup phase before unlocking can be initiated

  • If the DME is already unlocked and no further action is needed, a message will be displayed “DME is already Unlocked
