If you haven't done so, review the prerequisites. Prerequisites

Step 1: Unplugging Factory Connectors

  1. Locate a plastic DME dust cover located on the driver’s side, near the strut tower. Once located, lift the cover to remove it.

  2. Starting from the 1st DME connector (closest to the headlight), remove all 6 connectors.

  3. Depending on vehicle options and equipment, you might want to unplug surrounding connectors to make room.

  4. Once all 6 connectors are unplugged, move them aside slightly to make room.

For detailed info, see the DME COnnections in the Reference guide: DME Connections

Some models such as F97 and G05 have strut brace covering engine computer cover. For those models, you might have to remove the strut brace to gain easy access to the DME.

Step 2: Connecting M-Link

  1. With M-Link DME connectors in the Open position, plug the connector with RED mark on it into the DME number 1 terminal. Gently push the connector in and slide the lever to lock the connector in place.

  2. Plug the remaining connector into DME terminal number 5. Gently push the connector in and slide the lever to lock the connector in place.

  3. Pull on both connectors to assure they are securely fastened

The connectors are specifically designed to only go into their proper terminals. In case the conenctor is not going in, treat your ECU as “flipped version”, making the DME terminal number 1 being the one furthest from you and termainl number 5 being second closests to you.

Never force the conenctor in with excessive force. The DME terminals are delicate and can be damaged.

Step 3: Powering On and Connecting.

  1. If you purchased our power supply option, now is the time to plug it in. Alternatively, connect an appropriate power supply to the USB port. For more information on the power supply choices, please see the “Power Supply Info” section. Power Supply Requirements

  2. Once powered on, locate “M-Link: xxxxxxxx” in your WiFi connections and connect to it. The “x” being your device’s serial number.

  3. Upon a successful WiFi connection, the device will play a tone informing a user that WiFi connection is successful

Step 4: Accessing the User Interface

  1. Open a browser such as Google Chrome, Safari, Edge, or any other web browser of your choice.

  2. On the website address field, enter mlink.local and press enter.

  3. Depending on your personal computer settings, MDNS resolution can take a few seconds. Alternatively, for quicker access, you can enter 192.168.10.1 instead in the address field.

  4. Once the page is loaded, you will be greeted with the connect tab.

Step 5: Navigating the Connect Tab

  1. Press the “Start Here” button.

  2. The system will initiate a 5-step system check. If any faults are detected, they will be displayed accordingly. In that case, use the fault remedy guide available at: List of Errors and Remedies

  3. When all system checks are green, proceed to the feature of your choice. Features
