Technically speaking, the unlock feature is designed to remove the requirement for an official dealer firmware check before “unlocking” the DME. This allows the DME to be “flashed” on any tuning platform. In basic terms, it’s an at-home bench unlock! The proprietary in house designed Mission In stock form, DMEs can only be updated (flashed) with BMW factory-designed firmware. By leveraging proprietary Mission M-Link technology, the requirement mentioned above is eliminated. And allows users to unlock their DME and flash at home with any tuning platform.
The M-Link software features an array of automatic safety features, ensuring a safe and easy unlock to be performed. Unlocks are unlimited, and the MLink device “mates” once to the first vehicle it connects toOnce M-Link is connected to the DME, it becomes “mated” to it, and subsequent unlocks are unlimited and can be performed at any given time, and as many times are wanted.
